Latest: FED Event to launch a Year of National Celebration for the 150th Anniversary for State Education

Ten characters who shaped a school system

As we Launch a year of celebration to mark the 150th Anniversary of  State Education in England with a theme of ‘Looking Back – Moving Forward’, FED are delighted to publish a remarkable look back at some of the key figures who have influenced our education system, downloadable here.

Our Launch event on September 14th features the Secretary of State for Education and leading figures from business, education and the wider community. This is followed on September 17th by a unique gathering of 12 former secretaries of state for education who will be in conversation with Branwen Jeffreys of the BBC – www.fed.education/fedspace

In the coming year the FED will convene a number of exciting events to celebrate the anniversary ranging from our ‘150 Voices’ videos to a National Day of celebration to a poetry competition challenging young people to create a 150 word poem about their school or their education.

We hope to involve schools, colleges and the wider community in a year of local celebration. Let us know you’re interested on www.fed.education/contact.
