Maura was Chief Executive Officer of Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust until her retirement.
She is a consultant for both the Edwin Group and CST supporting and mentoring a number of CEOs and is a Director of St Joseph’s Catholic Academy Trust Liverpool, and a Trustee of both the Gaudete Trust London and Schools Northeast.
Maura has regularly addressed national audiences on the benefits and complexities of establishing and leading a Multi-Academy Trust in accordance with the principles of subsidiarity, solidarity and support for the common good.
Passionate about making a difference she believes that ‘every child should be given every opportunity to succeed’ and has championed the Just Change Campaign on behalf of Citizens UK to ensure that free school meal children receive their full entitlement.
She was a member of the National Advisory Group on Recruitment & Retention and a member of the national advisory group that drafted the CPD programme for prospective CEOs of Multi Academy Trusts. She was also a member of the working group for the Opportunity North East Programme and more recently has been appointed a RISE adviser.
In recognition of her work and leadership Maura was awarded the OBE in 2015 and made a Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (DBE) in 2021.
