James Cully, Chief Technology Officer at London Design and Engineering (LDE) University Technical College. James is a pioneering educator and technology leader who has driven the digital transformation of the London Design and Engineering (LDE) University Technical College.
With prior experience in apprenticeship training and creating digital assets for Mattel, Lego, and Sketchfab, he joined LDE as a founding member and its first Digital and Computing teacher. He developed a comprehensive, industry-informed digital curriculum, establishing partnerships with Intel, Google, Fujitsu, Promethean, and Disney’s Industrial Light and Magic, positioning LDE at the forefront of digital education.Now Chief Technology Officer, James has led the UTC-wide shift to digital assessment, embedded Intel CPD, and advanced AI-focused training for teaching and assessment. He continues to teach Digital Media, providing students with university-level tools while leading a fully employer-driven curriculum that bridges education and industry.
Recognised internationally, James is an Intel Gold Ambassador, was celebrated by Fujitsu as an innovative educator, and has advised the Technician’s Gallery at the London Design Museum and the Baker Dearing Educational Trust. He recently led an AI workshop with Newham Council and Bloomberg and runs a successful YouTube digital maker community, expanding access to cutting-edge digital skills.
