Our inaugural FED Open Exchange took place on Tuesday 13th October, with Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT) welcoming colleagues from across education for an inspiring day of professional curiosity and shared learning.

Visitors explored WPT’s ambitious Entitlement and Enrichment offer, which aims to ensure every young person, regardless of background, has access to experiences that broaden their horizons. From careers education and performing arts to sport and outdoor adventures, the day offered a fascinating insight into WPT’s vision of every child leaving school able and qualified.
A particular highlight was meeting 26 student representatives from across WPT’s schools, who spoke about the opportunities that matter most to them, including educational visits and practical life skills.

Helen O’Brien, CEO of Wickersley Partnership Trust, said:
“It was a privilege to host the first FED Open Exchange event. We’re rightly proud of our Entitlement and Enrichment offer and how the programme opens doors for every child, reinforcing our mantra to ‘never do less for anyone else’s child than we would do for our own.’”
Rashawn Grant from Bedrock Learning reflected on the visit:
“Wickersley was a rare opportunity to see education as we all want it to be. It’s not an exaggeration to say that I left the FED event much more hopeful about what’s possible for our young people, when we are sincere about doing our best for them.”
Dr Carl Ward, Founder and Chair of FED, added:
“Our colleagues at Wickersley Partnership Trust embraced the spirit of Open Exchange wholeheartedly, opening their doors with such warmth and generosity. Their openness in sharing their everyday practice and welcoming the curiosity of colleagues from across education created a wonderful opportunity for genuine professional learning and connection. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who made it possible.”
Our sincere thanks to everyone at WPT who contributed to such a memorable first event. We look forward to building on this wonderful beginning as Open Exchange brings more colleagues together across education.
