FED Council Member: Annika Small is a social entrepreneur committed to the imaginative use of digital technologies to address big social challenges. As co-founder of CAST, Annika has supported hundreds of charities and social enterprises to embed digital in their strategy, services and culture.
Prior to CAST, Annika was founding CEO of Nominet Trust, which invested in early-stage ventures that deploy technology for social innovation. This included originating and launching iDEA, the Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award, supporting young people to develop their digital and enterprise skills. Before this, Annika founded Generation Global, which is now operational in 23 countries, bringing together young people from different cultures to learn directly with, from and about each other. A winner of multiple awards for her work in education, Annika was CEO of Futurelab, which tests and develops radically new approaches to teaching and learning using technology.
Annika is the Chair of the University of Chichester; the Senior Independent Director of the social investment foundation Access; and a Trustee of the John Ellerman Foundation. Annika was awarded an OBE in the 2018 New Year’s Honours for services to social innovation and digital technology.
