FED Ambassador: David Wootton CBE DL has over forty years’ experience in Education and in Educational Leadership, having been CEO of one of the highest performing MATs in the country, Trust Executive, Executive Principal, Principal, Headteacher and Music teacher, working mainly with schools and trusts in challenging contexts.
David was an Adviser to the Department for Education, ESFA Board member, Chair of the Independent Academies Association, and member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Leadership and Governance.
David is now Visiting Professor in Education at Manchester Metropolitan University, a freelance consultant adviser, trainer, writer and speaker working across the educational spectrum and involved significantly in leadership and governance.
David Chairs the Learning Partnership, the largest MAT in Cheshire with 15 schools, he has engineered trust growth and mergers and Chaired IEB’s and Trust interventions to support governance in the face of significant challenges.
David is a Life Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts and was awarded a CBE for Services to Education in the Queen’s 2021 New Year’s Honours List. He is significantly involved in philanthropic and charity work and is a Deputy Lieutenant of Cheshire.
