Jonathan Slater has been a high-ranking British civil servant. From May 2016, he was Permanent Secretary of the Department for Education until his departure in August 2020. Jonathan also brings previous experience from his roles in leading major delivery programmes at both the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Defence, as well as his background in local government where he was a Director of Education.
Jonathan will support the work of the FED on a part-time basis following its National Education Consultation Report published in April 2021. His advice and support to the four FED workstreams will help create a second report in Summer 2022 which will outline the necessary foundations for a long-term plan for education.
