Tom Clark

FED Ambassador: Tom Clark CBE was formerly Chief Executive of George Spencer Foundation School and Technology College in Nottingham during which time the school received consecutive ‘outstanding’ Ofsted reports.

For 3 years he was Associate Director of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) leading on workforce-remodelling and helping to develop and network university accredited programmes for Deputy Head Teachers in Hong Kong, Australia, and The United States who were preparing for Headship

Working with the DfE he published booklets on ‘benchmarking and financial planning’, and ‘workforce reform’ and he helped create the ‘Raising Achievement Transforming Learning’ programme.

For 6 years Tom was Chairman of FASNA (Freedom and Autonomy for Schools – National Association) and advised successive Secretaries of State on policy matters and he wrote a publication on effective financial management in schools.

At the invitation of different Secretaries of State, Tom served on two ‘special advisory boards’ looking at the role of Local Authorities in an academised system and another on the development of a ‘national fair funding’ model for schools.

Tom served on a number Interim Executive Boards in failing Academies.

For 4 years he chaired Govnet’s Advisory Education Board helping to re-shape their ‘Schools and Academies (biannual) Shows’.

Since December 2018 Tom has been a Board Member of ATT.

He is a strong advocate of the post- Covid need to re-set aspects of the education system and he contributes to the work of international networks on this agenda.
