Maritime Academy Trust was founded in 2016 and has expanded from three schools to 12 primary and one special school across South East London, Kent, and Medway. The Trust is dedicated to creating strong partnerships, allowing schools to focus on quality teaching and learning. With an ambitious 10-year plan, known as the Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG), the Trust is working on five key areas: Education Beyond 9-3, First-Class CPD, Building Communities, Partnerships Beyond Maritime, and Educational Excellence.
Current initiatives include the Maritime Skills Academy, a free Saturday school for disadvantaged children, a comprehensive home visit programme for all year groups, the Maritime Children’s Foundation to support those in need, and development of a 0-3 offer.
Though still in the early stages, the Trust remains committed to ensuring all children have the best start in life, driven by consistency of impact without conformity of approach.
