FED Advisor: Meena Wood is former HMI Ofsted of thirteen years, held a remit on equalities within the Educational Inspection Framework and led on research in literacy and language as well achievement of pupil groups(including disadvantaged, minority ethnic and SEND). Her inspection expertise spanned colleges, training providers, Youth Offender Units as well as schools and Local Authorities. She was DfE Adviser within National Challenge and Local Authority Senior Education Adviser. In her senior leadership roles notably, Principal of a secondary academy and College Principal, she has always passionately advocated access and participation through a curriculum that fulfils each learner’s potential, regardless of background and starting points.
She is a KHDA Emirates inspector, leadership coach, international speaker and school adviser and works with British and International schools; GEMs (Dubai) as well as schools across India, Northern Ireland and England. Meena published ‘APL in FE and Bilingual Learners’(1995 Routledge); and more recently ‘Secondary Curriculum Transformed; Enabling All to Achieve’ (Wood & Haddon, Routledge 2021), Her next publication is on International Accountability systems in Beyond Belief (John Catt January 2025). She regularly publishes educational articles and delivers training webinars and podcasts on curriculum design, assessment systems, inspection and accountability. Meena is Honorary Fellow of Educational Leadership (Birmingham University), Board Member of Chartered College, Patron of English-Speaking Board (ESB) and on the Editorial Advisory Board of ‘The Day’.
