I am currently the Teacher Advocacy Lead at the Chartered College of Teaching., I lead the college advocacy work, developing opportunities for members and Fellows to be involved in consultations and ensuring our work supports the current interests of school practitioners. I also lead the national project, #Rethinking Curriculum, supporting primary schools to undertake meaningful and impactful work on their curriculum in a context-focused and sustainable approach.
My background of over 19 years in primary education enables me to support school teams, empathising and overcoming some of the challenges they currently face, whilst also striving for outstanding provision.
I have been a member of The Future Leader network since 2014 and am an active member of WomenEd, Women of the World (WOW) and Southwark’s Leading Women. I am a proud trustee for MTPT project and Team Up charities and sit on several advisory boards for various education bodies. I have hosted and chaired numerous webinars, focus groups, roundtables and delivered keynotes and workshops at education events.
I have completed my Ma Education and NPQH.
I have completed training as a resilience coach and Yale accredited happiness training to further support my work on mental health in schools, as well as being a mental health first aider. I am a level 7 coach and have been developing my work around counselling (to level 7) to support my work with schools and am a passionate advocate for coaching in schools to support wellbeing.
I was a Headteacher of a small rural primary school, Platt C of E. I lead the creation of a bespoke and creative curriculum for our small but vibrant community. I delivered the building and opening of a new school building in September 2021, leading the delivery of school design, resource provision, procurement and logistics within the global pandemic. Prior to this I worked as a Deputy headteacher in a start up free school and was pivotal in the implementation of a value driven curriculum from inception to delivery. I have also worked across MAT level to train and deliver high quality Early years and phonics provision.
I was Chair of Governors for a small independent school in Kent , supporting the school through inspections and through a closure plan and have previously acted as a school governor in several schools. I was part of the Ethical Pathfinder(NGA) working to change the leadership framework to one which is more ethical than some currently in place across education.
