Jonny Uttley has worked in schools for nearly 30 years, with 20 years in senior leadership. He spent 8 successful years as CEO of a multi academy trust, having worked as a Headteacher and Director of Sixth Form in 2 schools in Yorkshire. As CEO, he built a thriving trust on a straightforward philosophy – a great teacher in every classroom and staff who knew they were supported and didn’t have to compromise their family lives to be seen as brilliant at their jobs.
Jonny is a prominent voice on inclusive education and leadership culture. He is sought out for counsel by policy makers, charities and think tanks. He is a trustee at SHINE, an educational charity committed to reducing disadvantage in northern schools and Visiting Fellow at The Centre for Young Lives. In 2020 Putting Staff First: A Blueprint for Revitalising Our Schools was published, co-authored by Jonny and John Tomsett. He now lives his professional life by supporting schools, trusts and other organisations on leadership, culture and inclusion.
