Shaheen Hassan
Assistant Professor, University of Warwick University

Shaheen Hassan is an Assistant Professor and Deputy Head of Data Technology and Machine Intelligence Education Group at the University of Warwick, with responsibility for Student Experience. She has over three decades of experience in mathematics education and leadership across secondary and higher education. Shaheen is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (FIMA) and led the design and delivery of core undergraduate and apprenticeship mathematics provision at Warwick since 2013, consistently achieving outstanding student feedback.

Her work focuses on inclusive, accessible mathematics education, widening participation, and supporting diverse learners’ transition into STEM disciplines. She is the creator and academic lead of Mobius, a flexible online maths support platform used across Warwick STEM departments to build confidence and personalised learning pathways.

Her scholarship includes publications on engineering education, leadership, and technology-enhanced learning, and she is an active reviewer for engineering and mathematics education research.

Alongside her teaching and research, Shaheen has held significant leadership roles, contributed to her department’s Athena Swan Silver accreditation, and led multiple regional and national initiatives supporting equity, inclusion, and student success in engineering and mathematics education.
